Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a bizarre partnership that defies traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Disclosed
According to the authorized announcement, "A strange confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of prohibited practices and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The storyline features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine sect.
The mission concentrates on "strange tests and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Additional Material
Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an unique katana alongside several objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Update
This release also brings the game's newest free story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally featured a quest that clearly referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
